An RFID attendance system for a public high school. A tap of the student’s card records time in and time out and emails the parent. Teachers and admins search, filter and export the logs.

What's Included

The Problem

Paper attendance is slow to take and parents only hear about absences later. With AttendEasy, students tap an RFID card at the gate and the parent gets an email within seconds.

By the Numbers

Under the Hood

  1. Highlight 01

A tap that can’t double count

One endpoint decides between time in, time out, too soon and already done, using the day’s log and a three-minute window. A unique key per student per day backs it up in the database.

  2. Highlight 02

Face photos cropped on the server

Webcam photos taken at enrollment go through BlazeFace in TensorFlow.js, which finds and crops the face before it is stored.

  3. Highlight 03

    Parents told right away

Each time in and time out sends a formatted email with the date and time.

  4. Highlight 04

    Layered API

Routes, controllers and SQL models are separate, with a central error handler and composable auth and role middleware.
